#91659 - Nothing hiding here!
Responding to: ???'s previous message
First of all let me start with this. We have two different types of cutters. One cuts with heat and one cuts like scissors. These pictures are of one of the actual controls that had problems. It is the cold knife, so there is no heater control or plug for the heater. However the cutting head pictures are of the hot knife. I don't have a hot cutter control put together at this time.

Picture 1) This shows the transformer and bridge rectifier and where safety ground terminates.

Picture 2) Power entry module and the other end of the safety ground.

Picture 3) Power switch and 110VAC and raw DC enter into board.

Picture 4) The board is mounted by 4 screws to the top of the control box. Only one is in place for the pic. Also the DB-15 connector exits the control at the bottom of the shot.

Picture 5) The shield DB connector is not connected to to anything but the two pads.

Pictures 6 & 7) Show the full board top and bottom. Top is a little dark.

Picture 8) Shows the metal ends of the cable. The shield is folded over the strain relief and the halves clamp against it.

Picture 9) This is a little blurry, but shows the DB connector at the machine. The two red butt connectors go to the 110VAC air solenoid. The smaller black and red wires go to a microswitch at the right in the background.

Picture 10) This is a picture of the hot cutting machine and shows were the safety ground attaches. The cold cut machine that goes with the control pictured above has none of this.

Pictures 11 and 12) Show the first board design. This was made by another company, but we were not a big enough fish for them, and they had problems getting us the completed boards. This is when I started to learn about the 8051. I traced out this board, figured out how it worked. I was lucky enough to get the assembler source code, making it a lot easier to learn. I beefed up traces on the board, did away with some unused things, re-layed it out in what I thought was a better (simpler), more direct layout. They had traces going back and forth and up and down. It really made it difficult to follow, which is probably the reason it was done that way.

So, do I need some shots of anything else?

Jon
