#90636 - not necessarily the reset Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I believe you are looking at reduced noise margins maybe, only maybe, on the reset.
Why there is that difference on your board between the S and the C only Atmel knows. Using a supervisor is always a good thing, but the watchdog function is not a "cure" it is a safety net. I believe the real cure can be found in the FAQ entry "How can I resolve noise problems?" A likely reason is that switching to a newer derivative has resulted in shorter rise and fall times which very well could be the real cause of your problems. For this, the first plan of attack would be to make sure 10-100nF is soldered DIRECTLY across each chip on the board. I do remember that in the olden days we sometimes got by without. Anyhow, have you considered a non-Atmel chip - just to see? Erik |
