#97703 - standard signals Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I am in favour of somewhat more complicated and more expensive, but in many respects better UART-to-ISP solutions.
Yes, they use "standard signals (RS232) and thus cable length etc is all described and known. Well, and now, this involves also certain intelligence, so certainly would be called programmer rather than cable - and it is still ISP! If a MAX232 is a "programmer" the the moosn is blue cheese, and I doubt esacademy calls FlashMagic a "programmer" rather than "programming software" Anyhow, If the famous Aasom Khan is an ISP "cable", why the ... not use the one described in the Atmel litterature instead of some kitchen table invention? Erik PS: a large part of my opposition to kitchen table programmers is that they typically are built by novices and add one more level of uncertainty (does my program not run because it did not get programmed?). The other part is that I think it is much more important to know how to use the little bugger than to know how the feed it a program. |
