I initially responded when you said that one needs no programmer to ISP.

Can I summarize my points?

1. For UART-ISP on a workbench, usually not.
2. For SPI-ISP, even on a workbench, maybe not, but better yes.
3. For any ISP in field, if a laptop/PDA is for free, not; otherwise yes.
