"Cables" to support this are IMHO the same "kitchenware" category than the homemade parallel programmers, see my comments in earlier posts. And today, there are too many such "cable" constructions around, failing at various situations because of the given reasons - the same situation than it was with parallel programmers maybe 5 years ago. I also do fully agree with this statement. Kitchenware is, what isn't thoroughly developed. And there's lot around... Please, guys, don't think that ISP programming is better or safer or whatsoever. The only feature it provides is, that the micro can be programmed while resting in the PCB. And, also, it has nothing to do with user friendlyness or whatsoever. No, the big market of the near future cries for ready soldered boards containing ultra tiny, ultra smart micros sitting in ultra small SMD-packages. So, there's no room for sockets and parallel programmers in the future. Today we find us in a situation, where ISP or whatsoever it's labelled is in the developement! 'Developement' means lots of mistakes, lots of different standards, lots of messy datasheets, lots of messy application notes, lots of messy 'cables' and lots of manufacturers who misuse us to test their messy ISP stuff...
