#98042 - I have seen boxes for configuration Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I have seen boxes for various devices configuration, too. In fact, as the configuration is usually accomplished via UART/SPI/I2C, it is not too dissimilar to the ISP programming itself.
An example: coin validators are often reprogrammed/reconfigured in field (new coins, new fake coins rejection, need to suspend ) using such box. Much more convenient and also much faster; consider, what kind of places these things are operating, you don't want to fiddle around for too long. Lot of similar examples exists. It depends on the particular application, of course. Being it otherwise, laptops/PDAs are not the goods I would ever call "free" :-) Jan Waclawek |
