...probably a big piece of emmentaler... I am referring to the AT89Sxx-family, which is SPI-ISP, not UART-ISP. The "cable" performs protocol conversion in addition to level shifting - so it IS more intelligent than a MAX232 plus a handful of capacitors - that's why I insist on calling it a programmer (I know that SPI can be "bit-banged" from PC via UART too, but that's no better than the LPT-solution) . An example of the same, which you are probably more familiar than with the constructions for Atmel parts, is the infamous LPC9xx ISP-to-ICP bridge. Additionally, you can buy similar devices from many recognized device programmer manufacturers - and I doubt you will call their $$$ devices "a cable". Jan Waclawek |
