Our current tools are DOS based(ancient), and I do not think the people i talked to about this know much about IDE's.

what DOS based tools?
If, for instance the editor used is Brief, there is no way in Hades anyone will accept one of the miserable editors that come with the IDEs. However, if they use something like Edit, they will be shithappy with almost anything.
