I knew a fellow who used sunlight to expose his boards. He used what was little more than a picture frame to set up and just exposed them on a table that he could adjust to be normal to the incident sunlight.
I don't have details. Drilling has always been a big pain, and it's worth considering surface-mounting your components simply because you then don't have to drill holes. The only holes you'll have to drill will be feedthroughs for power, and, if you use 3 layers of single-sided copper-clad board, you will essentially have a multilayer board with a GND and Vcc plane. You then drill feedthroughs to GND a different size than those to Vcc, and then you can have some fun threading the feedthroughs on one at a time and soldering to the copper once they're in place. Be careful so you can locate holes large enough to solder when the sandwich is assembled. It's work, but it works! RE |
