In point of fact, the reason I couldn't get a Fortran compiler was because the only one in the local store at the time was an IBM compiler, and I wouldn't buy it.
And I remember those by the funny error I've seen during installation process: when you copy floppies to hdd and start setup from there you will get following error: 'insert disk 2 in drive C:'...

And finally, Fortran? I've recently encountered dusty book with title '100 most usable Fortran programs' and had a good laugh. Come on, today a Fortran is used only by people too lazy (or too busy with something else) to learn a decent programming language.

It seems that I have similar issue with Fortran some people have with Atmel - personal! I had to learn it during my schooling (INSTEAD some modern programming language, pick any) only because my 'bony teachers' knew only to program in Fortran... It has its earned place in - history, but apart from relicts has no place in today computer scene.
