Take a look at the AT89C51ED2. It has a built in ROM bootloader. You simply program it via the serial port. The "programmer" is an extra pushbutton to activate the bootloader. As a bonus, you get some XRAM and EEPROM to play with.
Even better, use a P89x66x that will give you the above 64k flash PLUS up to 8K RAM and hardware IIC. With that chip you do not even need the "extra pushbutton" and it will run at 33 MHz at 12 clocks or 20MHz at 12 clocks. Plan it out let us help you get it all in one order, then bite the bullet and buy from Digikey, Mouser, Future (they are Canadian) or whereever that has ALL you need. Do not let "the local electronics store" decide for you. If you go ahead with what you are proposing, you will probably spend more money on aspirin than the above would cost you. Erik |
