#100362 - more factory modes Responding to: ???'s previous message |
No no I don't mean entering particularly the BOOTLOADER but some other factory mode... There are certainly more special modes than only the bootloader and they are activated by different number of pulses. Takle for example the ICP mode, it is activated by 7 pulses. I'd guess there are some test modes, too, activated by a different number of pulses on reset line.
I don't know if there is some special mode activated by one pulse, but maybe the logic detecting the "pulses" might lock up even after a single pulse... It appears, that it was quite an unfortunate step from Philips to decide to share functionality on this pin... It was not worth saving the pin. If it would be a clean Reset, overriding any inside powerup reset requiring VCC drop below 0.2V and similar obscurities, requiring extra components (which the internal reset/bod/whatever was aimed to avoid); and also perhaps adding the option of reset output, it would certainly remove lots of uncertainties among us, the designers, which at the end of the day might make the whole LPC9xx line fail... It would be fine if Bill Houghton would drop in with an another insider comment here... Jan Waclawek |
