Nothing! Only the customers. And they sometimes even cannot tell what really are their requirements. Then they get what they deserve. It can't be overly emphasized: Analysis before design! But one thing I know almost for sure, the chipmakers' customers don't want to care about the power supply. They can do the job right, or not. It's their choice. JW PS. Why would that be so limiting? What does prevent the system designer to build a similar power switch just for the mcu than you are planning, in each board? Nothing! Only the cost is limiting. For most managers, it's hard to justify a $4 reset/power management circuit for a $1 MCU, even if the $1 MCU is unreliable without it. That's why people use supervisors. I've seen some circuits, circuits that clearly didn't need it at all (not 805x types!), with TWO supervisors. RE |
