Agree! Since we use MAX1232 we never had even the least trouble. So, to say, that the reset chip solves the problem is scientific enough for me.

Also, what you Richard propose, namley to clamp Vcc to ground results in new problems, even more harmful problems.

You once told us, that you would analyse the rise time issue. Please do so and present your results, but please stop telling us, that the reset chip won't solve anything. That's just not what we all observe every single day.
