The charge pump storage caps on these things sometimes need to be adjusted. You may pretty well count on the fact that the MAX232A and the MAX202 are the same die but the MAX202 couldn't be guaranteed to transmit faster than 64kbs. Hence the need for smaller charge storage space. However, the load determines the size of the cap here and I only suggested he keep an eye on it.
