BULL!!! read the datasheet. Never in a million years if you follow the datasheet You may pretty well count on the fact that the MAX232A and the MAX202 are the same die very possible, but the the chip is, per the datasheet, GUARANTEED to work with 100nF or 1uF. If you read the datasheet (extract below) it is clearly indicated that the 232 can work with either and if either works, why change. MAX232 (MAX202) +5 2/2 4 1.0 (0.1) No — 120 (64) Industry standard MAX232A +5 2/2 4 0.1 No — 200 Higher slew rate, small capsthe MAX202 couldn't be guaranteed to transmit faster than 64kbs. Hence the need for smaller charge storage space. What on earth does the voltage doubler caps have to do with achievable transmission speed?, they are nothing but power reservoirs. Erik |
