That would be extremely dangerous. The logic to do so would need to absolutely spike free and the disabling could not come at the time the activation (port pin) happened, but would need to be for a later cycle. Just visualize interrupts, one or two byte instructions and more. I have seen a few attempts to do so, but have yet to see one working. Again, there is no reason to mention that another processor can do something except when the '51 is incapable of that particular function and that is the request. I am fully supportive of using the right processor for the right job and am in no way locked to the '51 (as a matter of fact, I am currently working on the XA) But the ability to stretch a pulse is not a processor choice factor since, as shown, it is quite simple.
