#82848 - This advice is great Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I just like to thank all of you for your comments. I am self-employed and actually work completely on my own. The one thing I miss is to have other like minded collegues around that I can bounce ideas off. This is where you guys inputs come in.
THe reason for me seriously looking at C is because a lot of embedded applications now require "complex" (in assembler terms) items such as TCP/IP, Fat32, Hard Disc / Flash Memory interfacing, and this is where I am seeing my much loved assembler beginning to fall apart. Nearly all the pre-written code is in C and unless I get my finger out and get to grips with this, then I could be jepordising my livelyhood. I am a great follower of the 8051 and its pals, especially the new Silabs C8051F series. I got the development kit for about £100 and its absolutely magic, especially as you can debug without tieing up any of the processor resources. The IDE it comes with uses ASM or C so this may be my introduction to the world of C. The knowledge that this forum exists gives me a little lift in that there may be help round the corner. Thanks to All |
