#82989 - Obviously there is a reason...
Responding to: ???'s previous message
All to often the reason for some things at companies is due to historical and/or old fashioned ways of doing things. I have seen cases where programming was done a certain way "just because that is the way we do it here". There are certainly also examples of programming a certain way or with certain methods because it is the way a senior programmer or manager (who was probably 'the' programmer at one time) want to have it done; irrespective of whether it is the best way or not.

Hmm, well yes... At some percent you are right, but in my case we are talking about a company that is one of the biggest in the world, not only in telecommunications, but in a variety of products (automation, semiconductors, home appliances, car components, etc, etc. and I don't know what else). So, I don't believe that a single senior programmer can hold back things, especially when we talk about GSM telephony, where things change every month, and when this company introduces innovations every single day. OK, I exaggerate, but I believe that you got my point... All I want to say is that companies like Intel, Motorola, TI, etc. can't put back their plans, just because of a single senior programmer, especially when we know how hard the competition is... Correct me if I am wrong. Of course things can always be better and in these huge industries... Nobody 's perfect ;)

George

PS1 The company I am currently working among other stuff produces some 8051 derivatives ;)

PS2 I am not doing any advertisment, that's why I am not naming the company...
