Well it all depends on your point of view, if you are used to programming in assembler, that may actually be more readable to you than C would be. As for portability, well that has been the standard excuse for using C on a project, because if the processor that you are using becomes obsolete, then you can easily transfer already written code to another processor. All I am saying is, that yes that CAN be done, but it is not as easy as it sounds. This usually takes just as much time, in my experience, to do as to just starting from scratch.
