very large and very slow code for simple operations with large amount of data

"operations with large amount of data" is a job for a microprocessor, why are you trying to do it with a microcontroller If you want an architecture geared towards C, have a look at the Philips XA which, in my opinion, is a microcontroller/microprocessor hybrid, there you see many C statements becoming one assembler instruction.
