Who decides technical aspect is better ? It is user only. If C is more popular then Pascal(that too among highly technically & scientifcally skilled community of programmer & engineers )that means user are finding C tech better then Pascal. "The classic example is probably the VHS vs Beta videocassette format wars " In above case millons/ billion of money is invested in terms of equipment, accessories & manufac infra for hardware for VHS & BETA and it is not easy to change to better one without wasting existing investment on one format & again investing for new format. But with software it is not the case. If people finds Pascal better and using & demanding it more then software vendors could have easily switched over to it. Moreover technical aspect is also very subjective metter which from other programming aspect may include ease of use , ease of learning , applicabilty / suitabilty for variety of application / platform / processors etc |
