#87649 - Delphi Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Object Pascal added the extensions to the core language that Modula also provided I believe. And then of course Borland altered the whole history of Pascal with the Turbo range, which would ultimately lead to Delphi. The object technology in Pascal is still better than it is in C++.
Original 1970 Pascal WAS probably just a teaching language, but they were using it with punched cards ! By 1982, when I went to University, the Prime 70 mainframe would get som bogged down, it was possible to get a cup of coffee and come back to find ones code (<1000 lines) had STILL not compiled. By 1992, I could compile a 1000 line program on a PC before I lifted my fingers from the keyboard. One cannott condemn the language for its ancestry, but C, C++ still suffer from theirs. I don't think Pascal does. Steve |
