I disagree.
Sure, timing will be affected, and this must be borne in mind when deciding what & when to trace - but I find that in most (sure, not all) cases, it is beneficial & useful!

Maybe we just tend to work on different types of systems - yours are all highly performance-critical, and mine all have time to do serial debug trace... ;-)
