#77936 - ISP Connector Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Here's a question... Now that I have ISP working for Atmel which is almost definitely going to be the MCU used in the SBC, what kind of connector should I provide for ISP programming?
I'm using the SP89 Atmel programmer that operates over using the PC parallel port. Only 5 pins are required and that's how I've been working on my test unit. But I had to hack up a parallel cable to do it. Would it be reasonable to put a 25-pin port on the SBC exclusively for ISP programming so that the potential user would need nothing more than a standard 25-pin straight-through cable? The size of a 25-pin port on the board is rather annoying but I'm thinking the potential ease of use for downloading programs makes it worth the real estate. Thoughts? Craig Steiner |
