#103162 - That´s not the answer Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Usually Keil came up all three or four months with
8051 upgrades. Especially serving new chips. For 2005 there was no significant update- but quite a bit of new 8051 micros. The Accutron support ("Spear") by Keil is a pain in the neck. My guess: ARM is just taking a competitor out of business- and earns with it the 8051- cake! If the 8051 family looses Keil as tool and a nice offering (cause the customer data are now ownded by ARM) to switch to ARM (with also quite a variety of suppliers) will have quite an impact. Have a close look to the 8051 "big boys": They are also offering ARM micros! You see the story? Keil is just the pawn in this game ;o)) Another example: AD´s 7000 family is far behind schedule. In the very beginning they got along with the Keil- debugging tool- a nice little JTAG box. But now they are quite open to various other companies (Hitex, IAR). Times are changing and a strong arm is shaking the market. wolf |
