Perhaps slightly off the topic, but why are we still using all these references to Dhrystone, Wetstone etc.? Ok, they are well established, but from my perspective that doesnt help if they are completely irrelevant. Am I missing something here, but werent Dhrystone designed decades ago to measure something completely different than what is typically your concern when developing on an 8051?

Maybe I am too brave now, but I could offer a free beer to the first person who sends me his current 8051 application and shows me that this application looks a lot like the Dhrystone test code... ;-)
