with so huge base of code , software & devices developed around it over the years , dediacted base of developers who has got years of experience with all sort of apsect of 8051 devices it will be very difficult for any tom , dick & harry to replace 8051 I agree -- there's a lot of 8051 expertise out there, and a lot of users have paid-for tool sets. Switching to another architecture doesn't make a lot of sense unless there's a compelling reason to do so. And as long as various chip manufacturers keep coming out with newer devices built on the 8051 core, there's not much reason to switch. Of course the chip vendors use the 8051 core because there are so many users. Yep. x86 all over again. -a |
