I do have a question about one of the comments on that page, though. It was suggested that ARM parts are cheaper and consume less power than 8051 parts. Is this true? I did a quick look through Digikey and a few datasheets and while that is certainly a subset of available ARM parts and I didn't review every single part, it sure looked like ARM was generally more expensive and consumed more power than an 8051.

Can anyone comment on the relative cost and power consumption of ARM parts?
