By the way, this happened to our company's processors a long time ago, the Sparc. Today there is virtually only our own compiler and GCC. Back when I graduated in the early 80s, we were using Intel processors (8042, x86, etc) and all the tools came from Intel - Compilers, Assemblers, Linkers, ICEs, Development Systems (remember ISIS?), etc, etc... Then Intel divested all that stuff to 3rd parties. Now I note that Intel are again producing their own compilers...! ...plus c'est le meme chose! |
