Makes me think we need a set of independent 8052.com benchmarks conducted not by the compiler companies/organizations for marketing purposes but by inpdenedent developers interested in an accurate side-by-side comparison. At the very least, established 'C' benchmarks need to be conducted independently. It'd also be interesting to write the exact same benchmarks in assembly language with that being a benchmark to show the theoretical "best-case" and provide an authoritive comparison that shows the "cost" of using a high-level language.
