It was suggested that ARM parts are cheaper
I talked ARM and was offered them at ~$2.00 in the quantity where the '51 derivative I'm using cost $8.67. OK, SILabs stuff a ton of analog that I do not use on that chip, but still...

I do believe that the "super" '51s are going to be less interesting for the suppliers to make, but the LPCs and similar should reign for a very long time.
