#103185 - I'm with you Kalpak Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I guess the question we have to ask us is "Will we be completely out of C51-based products in a years time"? If yes, than I think we don't have to worry much. Wait and take advantage of the "Special campaign: upgrade to ARM!" messages we will start to get. If not, I guess it is time already now to look for alternatives, before all the good Keil engineers have left for other jobs and there is noone to answer your questions. I have been so Keilified on 8051 for the last years, so I don't know much of decent alternatives. Any advice, someone? Best Regards Joseph PS. Yes Andy, I might be a pessimist, but once upon a time I was also a optimistic user of Hiware compilers for ST7, before they were bought by Motorola and Metrowerks... When a semiconductor giant buys the tools, it is never for the tools market itself. There is no money in that market. It is to control what silicon is going to be used in new designs, trust me. I just checked on www.arm.com, their turnover are around 150 million pound per year. Does anyone seriously think ARM bought Keil for the license income? Do you think ARM really cares for the Keil 8051 compiler technology?n Sorry, time to wake up... |
