#81385 - Autologoff and IE security issues Responding to: ???'s previous message |
It seems that the cookie for inentifying previously read posts is not active with this display style. It's not stored in a cookie, it's stored in 8052.com's database. I'm using the same display style right now and the "new" flag is working. Please note that if you are using the flat style and you're reading a multi-page thread and there are unread messages on page 2 and you jump directly from page 1 to page 3 without visiting the new messages on page 2 then the thread will still appear to have "new messages" since you haven't read all the messages on page 2. Other sites have a "go to first unread post in thread feature" will check if it is here , but if not can it be added? This will probably be added soon. The first step was getting the "new messages" to work right in the first place. Once I'm satisfied that it's working well then I'll look at having a "read new messages" button. I set 0 in the log off but I manually log off when I leave is this necessary? Do I affect site loading if I do not log off? There is nothing wrong with doing that. Doing so will leave you logged in until you manually logoff yourself. Are there security issues here IE. IE has security issues everywhere. :) Seriously though, IE security issues should not pose a threat to this site and this site does not do anything that will cause problems with IE security issues. why have a logoff button if there are no issues with remaining logged on? You always need a way to logoff. Maybe you're going to sell the computer. Maybe you're going to be on vacation for a few weeks and don't want people at work using your 8052.com account with your permission, etc. Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
