Just now the thing logged me off again and displayed all entrys "new" and said "welcome back erik, PASSWORD"

If you are logged out overnight on the same computer then you probably need to check to make sure cookies aren't being destroyed by your browser. The "auto-logoff" (or lack thereof) is stored in a local cookie on your machine so if you're being automatically logged off even when you set auto-logoff to "0" then I suspect the problem lies somewhere in there.
With the old 8052 I never logged on (after doing it once) and was never logged off. I do turn off my work computer when leaving for the weekend and on mondays did not need to log on.

I know some people have their browser automatically purge cookies when they close it or once per night, etc. If this is occurring then the site will not be able to keep you logged on.
I do not have any automatics, I purge manually once in a while
