I got used to the US flag in this site


When the flag was there I received comments that it should be removed. And now when I don't include the flag in the new version I get comments (from non-Americans!) that suggest I should put it back up. :)

I appreciate and am truly touched by those non-Americans who have suggested that the flag ought to be there. Thanks! It may yet come back in the future and it will be back every 4th of July and September 11th.

I put the flag icon online post-9/11 to express my solidarity with my fellow Americans--especially since I live outside the U.S. and felt far away from my country at that moment in time and felt I needed to express my solidarity somehow. But once I put the flag there it never seemed appropriate to take it off. Nevertheless, time has passed and I don't want to relegate the flag to a decoration just because it looks good on the site.

The flag will be back if and when appropriate.
