#88562 - Additional memory support Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I'd like to see increased external memory support similar to what Dallas has done with a couple of their derivatives. But I'd also like to have an option of having bits 16-24 of the 16MB address clocked out through a serial to parallel IC--or maybe even allow it to have a 32-bit address by cascading two 8-bit serial/parallel ICs. These would only be updated by the MCU when the address being referenced is in a different 24-bit or 32-bit area of memory than the last access. This would allow massive memory access and only increase pin usage by 3 (reset pin for the serial/parallel ICs, a clock line, and a data line).
