if that's the goal then you are saying that the hardware should be developed to match the software, not the other way around, tell that to Philips and Keil. I'd say that you can't properly design software without considering the hardware and you can't design hardware and ignore the software that is going to be used on it. The fact is, many people do use 'C' (even Pascal!) on the 8051 so it's not necessarilly unreasonable for future hardware designs to take that reality into consideration when considering possible features for future derivatives.
