That is not all, you also need to know how to write compilers. I don't. I design systems with embedded micros. Compiler designers don't - there has to be a division of labour that AFAIK hasn't really been sorted out in the open source world. The general response is "you should know" and you are stupid because you don't follow the same though patterns as the designer.
