They do still support parallel ports. Nah, they don't. They just forgot to erase the sources... :-))) Nevertheless, it's not the parallel port which is supported, it's a Line Printer Port. No alternative offered for simple control applications. In fact, I don't really _blame_ them. I am #$%^ off, but I'd most probably act the same. Poor Little Joe (TM) trying to make blinkey is not a worthy customer for M$ et al. Christoph Franck said:
Blame the inventors of USB, its massive advantages for the consumer... Yeah, sure. I cannot praise my new jumpy USB mouse high enough. There is a lot of fun with searching and installing fixed and fixedfixed drivers for that nice blinking USB memory stick, it would be boring without a reboot or a BSOD or two in a day... But I also like the advantage of having gigabytes of drivers for each single and stupid gadget in that PC, and it's not only USB, many thanks to the inventors, they are gradually replacing each and every component of it... ...and its cost savings for the manufaturers. aaaaaaah... :-) JW (PS. Again, I certainly am rather stupid but not THAT stupid that I cannot appreciate SOME of the advantages of USB, just I don't like the idea of losing LPT/COM/PS.2 just because it's trendy and brings $$$ to $$$...) |
