What is target - to make something like in-circuit emulator?

When You insert nops ,program counter will increment, bytes of real programm will be bypassed. And when You stop sending nops ,result will be unpredictable.

About crystal - external generator, based on CMOSgate and crystal,does not difference from direct connecting of crystal to
XTAL pins - in terms of accuracy.
