Just because a parallel port is obsolete doesn't mean I cannot use it.
I'm sure there are some people out thee now having computers with parallel ports other than myself. Sure, USB is today's standards, but I don't care to use it. Also, I don't care whether my hardware meets todays standards. I don't care if I'm making something that is current 20 years ago!. I am asking, because I want to LEARN! I don't want to change chips. so can someone please provide me with a decent answer, or a link to a decent answer? thanks. Hi Mike: I build test equipment for 20 yrs. as my hobby and sometimes I would make special equitment for my job. I could understand if you said you wanted to use a core 8051 example 89c4051 to make a programmer. Because this part would give you a basic 4k flash memory and uart and would make smaller foot print. Or if wanted to use ISP mcu makes sense to me. Parallel port are great for fast programmers as far as speed upload the program. Here's what I am trying to say and I am not engineer just a tech. If you had 400 disk for floppy drive or you could use one 512 MB flash drive to hold your information which would make more sense? First you can access all your files in few seconds and know what they are. Or you set at the pc for next 4 hours looking at files on your floppies. That the point I am trying to make. New techology does help the tech and hobbyest. Best regards, Ralph Sac |
