If You want to build such Big computer , people here can
suggest some ideas.
For crystal: Dont connect crystal to XIN/XOUT . Use external generator,connected to XIN.( Here in forum You will find useful topics about problems, so - use 80C31,80C51 , but no NMOS).
So , external clock can be stoped (gated) or even simulated trough LPT. If You have divider You get precise timing from
same generator to Your PC ,(i think its not needed, You have
enough resources in PC to count time exactly).
