My thought was to use an external IC for video and maybe audio, too. I like the idea of multiple 8052's being used to handle individual functions. The more that could be accomplished by 8052's the better, I think.
Could an 8052 derivative handle video output for a TV? I don't know enough about video signals to know what happens there let alone whether a dedicated 8052 could handle it. But if it were possible it'd be excellent if the primary 8052 could send "graphic commands" to a secondary 8052 that would be dedicated to handling the video. In such a design the primary 8052 could send the graphic commands and forget about it since the 8052 video chip would take care of receiving the video commands, remembering them, and constantly updating the video output.
