#76671 - 6502 emulation Responding to: ???'s previous message |
But when it comes to an "8-bit Atari-alike with 8052 CPU" I'd prefer to go with standard '52 CPU mode and not waste clocks on emulation. 6502-in-8052 being a completely separate project (though maybe optionally implementable?) I agree with this. I think 6502 emulation should be a separate project once a working 8052 microcomputer is functioning. I think an 8052 microcomputer is challenging enough without having to add a layer of emulation on top of it. Additionally, the 6502 emulation is going to be of little value if the original external chips used in 6502 systems are no longer available. The ANTIC, POKEY, and GTIA chips used in the Atari did a lot of the work for video and the only way a '52 system emulating a 6502 system could even become remotely useful is if the system also emulated those external parts. I think emulating multiple parts with an 8052 would be pretty ambitious. Regards, Craig Steiner |
