Do we need to take into account potential future additional slave devices into the multiport/shared memory design? Right now we're talking about 4 slave 8052s, but the possibility for expanding with additional slaves in the future has been raised. How would that impact the design of a shared memory configuration? Why not somethinlike an ISA bus in the mainboard and the dual port ram in the cards that need it. For example a single IO card will be a latch, a buffer an a decoder but a hi-tec card will be a dual port ram with an 8052 (or other micro) ant the desired circuits. |
