#77584 - RE: USA flag Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I remember the USA flag was posted when the 9-11 ocurred (or my memory is so bad and i invented it) That is correct. The flag was added to the site in the days or weeks following 9/11 (I can't remember how quickly I added it post-9/11). It was inserted on the site for the same reason that many Americans put flags in front of their houses--out of respect, pride, remembrance, and solidarity. I have since considered removing the flag icon on several occasions but in each case I ended up asking myself: Why? Pride and patriotism is valid all the time, not only immediately following national tragedies. I don't think the U.S. flag should negatively affect non-Americans. I'm an American and live in Mexico and I am not offended or bothered by the presence of the Mexican flag and stand respectfully when their national anthem is played. I wouldn't be bothered if I visited a Mexican website that displayed the Mexican flag. Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
