The issue of minimal or nonexistent effort pretty much sums it up for me and is where I draw the line. I regularly dole out code snippets on some Forums.

When I read "gimme", my immediate thought is "payme"!

On the other hand, when someone appears to be making an earnest effort, but can't quite solve their problem, more often than not, I'll give 'em a piece of code. They are happy and that makes me happy.
