On one hand it'd be great if old threads could be revived usefully..
Most often the new post in an old thread is very similar to the top post in the revived thread. Reviving old threads would be great if the continuation provided something new, but most often it just show that the reviver did not read the thread but liked the title.

Since a small percentage of the revivals actually are valid should we thhrow the baby out to get rid of the bathwater?
