#77612 - Issue of alms on street - Craig Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I'll be of the attitude that by giving him money I'm only contributing to the problem. My attitude on that literally changes every day. Hello Craig, I enjoyed reading every bit of what you wrote on the issue people begging on streets - as I could relate to evry word of what you said. Actually it used to be a big emotional challenge to decide what to do when there is this unmistakable knock on the window while waiting for a signal - then one day I decided, who the hell am I to correct this guy by not contributing ? And as you rightly said, what is the guarantee he will transform and start working instead of stealing or doing something similiar ? Anyway now the problem is solved - everytime there is t he knock, out goes a rupee. But the peace of mind it buys in turn, is amazing - and the look of satisfaction on the guy's face ( whether he deserves it or not ) DOES give a good feeling. WHAT better way to start a day ? Life has more important priorities than to loose sleep over trivial issues like this. So as you said, if there is enough proof to show that someone has tried , then GIMMEE or GIVEE is most welcome.
